Winnipeg Landscape Design & Full Yard

The whole yard, designed as one plan

Front yard, backyard, or the entire property — designed and built by one in-house team, so the patio, the plantings, the grade and the structures all work together instead of fighting each other.

What this hub covers

When you want the whole thing, not one feature

Some projects are a single patio or a fresh lawn. Others are the whole yard — and those want a plan before they want a shovel. This hub is for the bigger vision: a designed front yard, a complete backyard, or a full property transformation where every piece is drawn to work with the others.

The strongest yards combine hardscape and softscape into one balanced design — patios and walkways giving structure, sod and plantings bringing life, and the grade and drainage sorted underneath so none of it fails. Trying to bolt those together one feature at a time, hiring a different crew for each, is how yards end up disjointed. Designed as a single plan and built by one in-house team, it comes together.

BerryHill designs and builds whole yards from the ground up — reading your grade, fitting the plan to how you actually live, and phasing the work to your budget when it helps.

A plan before a shovel

The best yards are born at a kitchen table in February

In a city with a 120-day building season, timing and planning are the strategy. The homeowners who get the yard they wanted, on time, are almost always the ones who planned in the off-season.

  • 01Design first, so it all fits. Every feature drawn to work with the next — no disjointed yard cobbled together one crew at a time.
  • 02Grade and drainage solved underneath. We fix where the water goes before building anything pretty on top of it.
  • 03One in-house team, footings to plantings. Hardscape, softscape and structures under one roof — one point of contact, one accountable build.
  • 04Phased to your budget. A master plan you build in stages over seasons, without losing the cohesive end result.

Book in winter and you get a builder with time to sit with your vision unhurried — not one shouting over a compactor in July. That’s when the best projects are actually born.

Good questions

Whole-yard projects in Winnipeg, answered

Do I need a design, or can you just start building?
For a single feature, we can often just build. For a whole yard, a design first is worth it — it makes sure the patio, plantings, grade and structures all work together instead of being cobbled on one at a time, and it lets you see and adjust the plan before money goes in the ground.
What’s the difference between complete landscaping and a yard makeover?
Complete landscaping delivers a full yard as one coordinated project. A yard makeover or full renovation starts by tearing out a tired existing yard and rebuilding it from scratch. Both end in a finished, cohesive space — one starts closer to a blank slate.
Can I phase a big project over a few years?
Yes — and it’s a smart way to manage budget. We design the full master plan up front, then build it in stages over seasons so each phase fits together and nothing has to be undone later. The plan keeps the whole thing cohesive even when it’s built in pieces.
When should I start planning a full yard transformation?
Winter — January or February. Whole-yard projects need design time, and the good crews’ spring and summer build slots get claimed early. Planning in the off-season gets you a builder with time to design it right and a spot in line before the May stampede.
Do you handle both front and back yards?
Yes — front yard curb appeal, backyard retreats, or the whole property together. Designing them as one plan keeps the style consistent from the street through to the back fence.
