Landscaping in Warren, Manitoba

BerryHill Landscaping & Construction builds for one of the Interlake’s classic small towns — a genuine farm community on Highway 6, twenty minutes from Winnipeg, still growing but still small enough to know its own grain elevator by name. Driveways, patios, retaining walls, sod, drainage and full yard builds, in-house from design to finished grade. For a free on-site consultation and quote, call 204-801-7669.

Warren’s post office opened in 1882 under the name Hanlan, after champion rower Ned Hanlan — world sculling champion from 1880 to 1884 — and was renamed Warrenton in 1912. The Canadian Northern Railway station took the name Warren in 1905, honouring CNR western vice-president A.E. Warren, and that name stuck even after the post office designation was dropped in 1955. The Rural Municipality of Woodlands, which Warren still calls home, was incorporated in 1884, and Warren’s 1948 wooden grain elevator — now community-owned and used for tours, weddings and fundraisers — remains the town’s best-known landmark.

Warren is Woodlands’ largest urban centre, a compact agricultural town about 26 kilometres, roughly 20 minutes, northwest of Winnipeg on Highway 6. It grew from 818 residents in 2016 to 1,015 in 2021 — 24.1% growth — while staying small: just over five square kilometres, with municipal water, sewer and natural gas but a genuinely rural feel. What that means for yard work is straightforward — a mix of older farm-town lots and newer infill, on a compact townsite where most projects are additions and upgrades to existing properties rather than raw new-subdivision grading.

Why Warren is a different job

Warren’s size and setting shape the work more than any single soil quirk:

A short, easy commute that stays genuinely rural. Twenty minutes and 26 kilometres up Highway 6 from Winnipeg, Warren still functions as a working agricultural town, not a bedroom-community subdivision — expect farm-adjacent lots and larger yards, not cookie-cutter setbacks.

Real growth on a small footprint. Warren’s population grew 24.1% between 2016 and 2021, but the townsite itself covers just over five square kilometres, so new demand tends to land as additions, replacements and upgrades to existing properties rather than large tracts of raw new-build lots.

A working small town with its own identity, not an extension of Stonewall or Stony Mountain. Warren sits in its own RM of Woodlands, with its own history, schools and grain elevator landmark — distinct from neighbouring Interlake towns even though they’re a short drive apart.

An older railway town, so lot conditions vary. Warren grew up around a CNR line and grain elevator dating to the early 1900s, so established properties can have older grading, mature trees and existing landscaping we work around rather than a blank-slate new lot.

No subcontractors, ever.

The crew that quotes your job is the crew that builds it — except licensed gas fitting, where the law requires it.

We work with established lots, not just blank slates.

Mature trees, older grading, real farm-town character — we build around what’s already there instead of starting from a bulldozed clean sheet.

We treat Warren as its own town.

Not a Stonewall suburb, not a Stony Mountain add-on — Warren gets a plan built for its own lots and its own history.

Warren landscaping questions

Who are the top landscapers serving Warren, Manitoba?

BerryHill Landscaping & Construction serves Warren and the RM of Woodlands with 15+ years of experience and 300+ reviews across Google, Houzz, Facebook and HomeStars.

How far is Warren from Winnipeg?

About 26 kilometres, roughly a 20-minute drive northwest of Winnipeg on Highway 6.

Is Warren’s soil different from Winnipeg’s clay?

We haven’t found a documented soil quirk unique to Warren the way some other Manitoba communities have — we assess grading and drainage on-site for every property rather than assuming.

Is Warren growing quickly?

Yes — population grew 24.1% between the 2016 and 2021 census counts — though the townsite itself stays compact, so most work is on existing lots rather than large new subdivisions.

Do you work on older, established properties in Warren?

Yes, a lot of our Warren work is regrading, replacing tired hardscape and updating landscaping on properties that have been there for decades.

Is Warren the same as Stonewall or Stony Mountain?

No. Warren is its own community in the RM of Woodlands, with its own history and character, even though all three are a short drive apart in the Interlake area.

Do you build driveways and patios for rural or acreage-style Warren properties?

Yes, we regularly work on larger rural lots as well as standard townsite properties.

How long does a typical project take?

Most single-property driveway or patio projects run one to two weeks from excavation to finished surface, weather and material lead times permitting.

Do you offer free estimates in Warren?

Yes, free on-site consultations throughout Warren and the RM of Woodlands.
